• Meet our talented team of lawyers in Darwin

Led by our directors, Richard Henschke and Cathy Spurr, the Halfpennys team has been hand-selected for their expertise and empathy.

Richard Henschke

Richard is Halfpennys’ co-principal and a highly respected legal practitioner with over 40 years of experience. His expertise spans various areas, including commercial law, adoption and wills and estate planning.

Over the years, he has built enduring relationships with his clients – including some of the largest companies in the Northern Territory – who view him as their legal representative and a trusted confidant.

As the go-to lawyer in Darwin for adoption matters, he finds great fulfilment in helping families navigate the associated complexities and achieving the desired results. He is also a conciliator and mediator, reflecting his belief in preserving relationships and avoiding unnecessary conflict.

Outside of his work as a lawyer, Richard enjoys spending time with his family and caring for his bromeliads.

Outside of her work as a lawyer, Cathy is an active member of the Northern Territory branch of the Australian Labor Party. She is dedicated to serving her community and advocating for the rights and needs of its members.
